The Great Age of American Automobiles
February 3 - June 23, 2008
The American automobile has long been an emblem of personality and an icon of fantasy. This exhibition focuses on the height of American automobile design as it flourished in the decades following WWII, when cars became not just vehicles of transportation but vehicles of the imagination. One hundred skillfully and elegantly rendered works, including images of cars actually produced, exotic concept cars, advertising artwork, and sculpted car models, will be displayed alongside a select group of classic vintage automobiles as well as Detroit’s latest concept cars.
