Gabriela Perez Guaita, sculptor with a renowned background in her country and abroad, surprises us with a collection of reliefs specially created for this exhibition. Iron, engraving, patinas sober images of poetry, will dialogue from the walls with the colorful exuberance of venetian masks created by Eugenia Scavino young painter who will present these unique sculptures bringing to present a carnival with reminiscences of the Commedia dell 'Arte.

GABRIELA PEREZ GUAITA lives and works in Cordoba, Argentina. She is teacher and researcher at the National University of Cordoba 2011.  Outstanding exhibitions: Sala Molina Rosa. EUGENIA SCAVINO: Venetian Masks

The mask integrates cultures, places and eras. It is a bond between the man and the other being. It is “the other identity”. The death cult, the mommies, the animal’s resemblance, the jokes, the customs, the “hide and seek” and the proximity to the rituals and myths are related to the masks. We present decorative masks, some of them with a modern design and adapted to the carnival parades, some others recreate the Commedia dell’ arte characters. These masks are artistically conceived and generate aesthetic emotions. They raise joy, mystery and attraction to the intrinsic beauty and at the same time they evoke a certain symbolism. They are crafted according to an ancient tradition dated to 1100 combining a majestic elegance with creativity and fantasy.

SCENERY AND ACCESSORIES FOR AN IMAGINARY OPERA

October 25-  December 23, 2011

 

Two artists one from Argentina  (Cordoba) and one from Uruguay (Montevideo), both renowned in their respective countries, both with work exhibited and awarded internationally, have transposed the boundaries of their own disciplines to give us on this occasion, a fantastic view of its multifaceted forms of expression.

Cecilia Brugnini, pioneer of textile art in Uruguay, was invited to create, years ago,  costume accessories for of important theatre and opera plays creating big size necklaces using natural horn, fibers, ribbons, wood, collage, reembourrage, participating with them in several performances  as Stabat Mater as Pergolessi, Madame Butterfly, The Divine Comedy (Antigua, Guatemala, 2004), Festival of Jose Ignacio (Uruguay).


Celia Marco del Pont dedicated since the beginning of her career to  the graph of reproduction, from traditional printmaking to new technologies such as digital art, goes through various themes, referring to an imaginary world where landscapes and characters, metaphors derived from reality and has made large tapestries (?) for this show in which the traditional  shares space with embroidery, painting, collage.

SCENERY AND ACCESSORIES FOR AN IMAGINARY OPERA, will be opened to public  in the lobby of Merit Grand Hotel Victoria – Peatonal 25 de Mayo  240, Córdoba - Argentina from 25 October to 23 December 2011.
