What might an exhibition/initiative like this look like in the US?
It's a Small World, Aug. 28-Jan. 31, 2009
it´s a small world focuses on Danish design, craft and architecture in relation to a new international design agenda. Sustainability, Human Scale, New Craftsmanship and Non-Standardised Praxis are the four main themes of the exhibition. The intention is to initiate a dialogue about the expectations to and ambitions for a world, where sustainability has taken on new meaning.
Scenarios:
it´s a small world is staged around six interdisciplinary scenarios, each introducing a unique concept based on the four main themes; Sustainability, Human Scale, New Craftsmanship and Non-Standardised Praxis. The scenarios explore cultural trends, from an individual as well as a collective point of view, in a local and a global perspective.

it´s a small world is developed on the basis of an initiative by the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs and the Danish Ministry of Culture.The background for the commision is the danish governments introduction of a new danish designpolicy, as desribed in the Design Denmark report.
